Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing
Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing is where the effectiveness of the facial seal is measured by special, electronic equipment. In the method we use, natural occurring aerosol particulates are electronically measured both inside and outside the mask by a precise particle counter machine called a PortaCount® . The Portacount divides the number of particles in the masks from those outside the mask to determine if there is a proper fit. The exercises performed by the subject are the same and the computerized evaluation will determine a pass or fail, eliminating any subjectivity.
